About

I’m Ami

I know what it is to be the person who keeps going.

For a long time, that was simply what I did. I raised my family, worked, dealt with what life put in front of me and carried on.

But there have also been periods of my life that changed me deeply — rebuilding after the end of a long marriage, losing my dad, caring for my mum through serious illness and then losing her too.

For a long time, there wasn’t really space to stop and ask how I was. There was always something that needed dealing with, someone who needed me, or simply the next thing to get through.

And I think that’s partly why I understand the women I work with so well.

Not because our stories have to be the same, but because I understand what it is to be capable, to keep functioning, and then eventually realise that getting through something isn’t quite the same as finding your way back to yourself.

My professional path

How I came to this work

My path into this work began with Nutritional Therapy. I trained at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition, qualifying in 2019, and went on to work with women in private practice.

But over the years, I became increasingly interested in what sits underneath the things we can see on the surface. I could give someone all the information in the world about what might support their health, but I was becoming more curious about the impact of stress, our experiences and the ways we learn to cope.

My own experiences deepened that curiosity too. I began to understand that we can make sense of things intellectually, understand why we feel the way we do, and still find it difficult to actually feel differently.

That eventually led me to train in somatic parts work — an approach that includes the body, nervous system and the different parts of ourselves that have learned to protect us and help us through life.

It felt like a natural evolution of the work I had already been doing.

Today, my focus is on creating a space where women don’t have to perform, achieve or work out the ‘right’ answer. We can slow things down, notice what’s happening underneath, and begin to understand what you need now.
